“Since I started working with Johnny I have learned a lot about how the golf swing works but more importantly how exactly MY swing works. This is one of the most important things for a player. Johnny is very knowledgeable but teaches and demonstrates in a way which is easy to understand. I enjoy our sessions and we have good fun while we are working.”
“Since I began working with Johnny I have learned a lot about my golf game. I feel my golf has stepped up a level and this is testament to the quality of info and the amount of effort that Johnny has put in. He has made me aware of what my game needs to reach the top level and the amount of work required.
We have had some great experiences away on tour when he has travelled to various events like the Walker Cup, Valderrama and Dunhill Links. It’s fantastic to have him along side me at these events and shows the dedication he has to helping me improve and learn. He also attends various other tour events throughout the year always keen to learn and get to the next level. I look forward to working with Johnny in the future to see how far we can both get in this game.”
“I have been fortunate to meet some of the greatest coaches in the game and having worked with Johnny this summer I already see the same traits in him. Johnny is travelling to events, engaging with experts in every aspect of golf and building a well of knowledge that will allow him make any pupil not just a better swinger but a better golfer.”
“Johnny Foster is a dedicated student of the game. He is constantly developing his knowledge base in order to assist those he is coaching to reach their full potential. He has immersed himself in the game, observing how great coaches relate to their students in order that he might deliver the best advice to his own students. He is a truly inspired and dedicated professional.
He is someone I’ve known and respected for a long-time, ever since we played amateur golf together for Ulster and Ireland. He has a passion for the game which few others possess and has taken his love of playing as a high ranking amateur and developed as a great coach. Johnny brings his playing experience into his teaching, and can relate to almost every situation on a golf course because of his own playing experience. He continually develops his teaching techniques because of his passion for the game. Through this he has become involved with a number of Tour Professionals and has been able to observe and influence their practice. Johnny has travelled to a lot of European Tour events over last few years he has picked up a lot of information. This big investment Johnny has made separates him from other coaches!”
“I first met Johnny at the Irish open in Killarney 2011. I was struggling with my game and needed to find a coach. We arranged to meet at Greenacres the following week for a session and I liked what I was hearing straight away. Johnny was blunt and straight to the point about certain flaws in my swing and was quite clear about the road we were going to take and the time it was going to take. Johnny is energetic and always looking for ways to improve his own knowledge and performance. I am very happy with the relationship we have and the progress so far.”
“Johnny not only has a library full of knowledge on the golf swing but has a great ability to zone in on where each individual needs to improve, my time spent with him has not only given me a much better understanding of the golf swing but more importantly has given me a better understanding of my own swing and what works well for me. Johnny challenges me and motivates me to improve and get better which as a pupil is what is important, as a golf coach I have never met a more motivated individual who goes to great lengths to make sure his students have the best information available.”
“Knowing Johnny’s work ethic as a player and now seeing that ethic transcend to his desire to become one of the best coaches in the world, it gives me great confidence and belief that I will be receiving the best possible coaching in the game.
Over the past 2 years I have seen huge improvements in my golf game. Learning under the instruction of Johnny, I now understand what causes my good and bad shots, so I can now repeat the good and learn from the bad. I look forward to further improvements and achieving my full potential.”
“I feel a good coach is someone who wants to help players achieve their potential and is always willing to improve themselves – Johnny ticks both these boxes. His enthusiasm and passion for the game shines through in his teaching and the way that he delivers his message. I enjoy our time together and I always learn some new and interesting ideas about the game. I’ve worked with some of the games top coaches and Johnny shares many of their best qualities.”
“Johnny has great knowledge of the game. I could ask him a question in regards to any aspect of the long game/ short game and he has researched it and can give me a comprehensive answer. He conveys his points impressively, as there have been certain scenarios where I may not have been conceptualising what he was telling me and he can approach it in a different way in order for me to understand. I can tell that Johnny really cares about his students, as is shown by the attention to detail with emails, phone calls, and text messages which makes the players realise how much he wants us to succeed. He seems to have a plan/vision for all his players in regards to both our short / long game techniques and skills. Also, he helps with the ‘off the course stuff’ too, it really is appreciated and also taken on board.”
“I have been working with Johnny since August ‘11 and find him a great coach but most of all a great communicator. We started working in the summer and got great success with a 63 in the Adare pro-am, my best result as a pro. We continued working throughout the year and I enjoyed success at The Ulster Championship shooting 69, 69 and winning it by 2 shots which helped me to 19th position on The Irish PGA order of merit. The main thing I find with Johnny is that he understands where you’re coming from as a player because he has played at a high standard himself. He is also great for finding ways of improving you as a player. He also tells you how to practice the new techniques and this is massively helpful.”
“Since switching his focus from playing, to coaching, Johnny has established himself as one of the top coaches in Ireland. His knowledge of the golf swing and finer aspects of the short game is impressive, but even more impressive is his ability to apply this knowledge to his clients.
Johnny has helped me in all areas of my game. My full swing and short game mechanics have improved, whilst maintaining my playability. But most importantly, he has changed the way I practice, so that I get more out of every session.”
“Great to catch up with you today. You have a real passion for the game & to widen your knowledge of it, it’s great to see. You’ll do well as a coach, mate. I’m glad you got something out of our time together. It’s all about putting bricks in the wall.”
“Since I started working with Johnny in 2010 my swing has improved a huge amount but more importantly to me, I now know my own swing and I understand my own bad shots. I also understand what makes a good swing and what all the top players have in common. Since day one, he has been very consistent in his teaching and he has a huge knowledge of information to back up his thoughts. He has a great passion to teach, but he has also has great knowledge about chipping, bunker play, putting and even into the mental side of the game. I would highly recommend Johnny if you are looking to take your golf to the next level.”
“The first thing I noticed when I began working with Johnny was his enthusiasm and passion for the game. His knowledge of the game is vast but more important is his infectious attitude toward improvement. He delivers his messages in a clear simple way and I have learned a great deal about my swing during our short time together. We identified very simple keys to my swing that I continually monitor and I now understand exactly what I need to do to swing the club well. Having these simple swing checks and the ability to self diagnose swing problems is vital while away on tour for weeks on end. Johnny is someone you could chat to for hours about the game, his experiences at european tour events and what he has learned from top European tour players. He is continually looking to improve himself as a coach and I look forward to working with Johnny in the future”
